Protoniversary

Hot on the heels of my swap to Proton Pass, I hit my Proton Anniversary a few days later. I received this lovely email in my inbox:

Every year that someone is a Proton subscriber, they receive a storage bonus. As a Proton Unlimited subscriber, this means that I get a bonus 10 GB of storage. More storage is always a welcome addition. For me personally, I don’t really need more storage with Proton at this particular moment. I have a combined total of 570 GB of storage, of which I’m using… 1.22 GB.

Unfortunately, I don’t use Proton for most of my cloud storage. Instead, it’s just a mess between storing things in iCloud on my Mac and storing things in… nothing on my Linux laptops. Proton Drive right now mainly serves as a means by which I can move things between my laptops and iPads by manually saving and downloading files from it. However, there’s now a Proton Drive app that can be installed on macOS. That’s half the battle for me, and once I can also install it on Linux, I could see a lot of that storage quickly being eaten up as I more holistically start syncing my files again, like I used to do back when I was a Dropbox subscriber. Until then, I’ll just continue to bankroll my storage for when I need it.
